The Mallmus Blog

And So It Begins

Hi. Welcome to MallmusMedia! and The Blog - I won't get my first post bogged down with too much 'welcome' nonsense, so I'll jump straight into my first idea...

Mallmus and the Internet

Lets discuss the current state of the internet and its relation to MallmusMedia! - There are more and more creative people emerging in the wake of the net, people such as writers, musicians, illustrators and photographers, all of which could do with more business and becoming well known - so I sit here wondering how I could help them. Along side making sites for small local businesses I think it would be great if I offered a cheap web design service to creative people, it would be better than using a MySpace page or a free-hosted site; I'd offer something professionally made for peanuts.

Each creative person's needs are unique, so a bog-standard MySpace or Blogger can be quite restrictive. I'd discuss their craft and find a way to bring it alive online, in a way that can help their business grow - In this day and age every computer is now a printing press, a broadcasting station, a community or a market place and there are tons of online services that can be used for manufacturing products, be it a CD, a book or some prints - so I'd help them find the best solution and build something to bring it all together.

I want to discover what my clients really want from a web site, so if any creative people are reading this, please let me know!

Why do I do any of what I do?

I've been designing things for a number of years, I can't really pin-point exactly when I got into it as I was pretty much self-taught - my dad was mainly a playing card designer as well as general graphic designer before he retired - so its been around me for as long as I can remember; I guess I'm just taking a similar trade onto a more modern format.

J.J. Abrams: The Mystery Box talk from TED

So that's one of the reasons why I do any of what I do - Kind of like JJ Abrams in the video, I was inspired by my father - I can think of a few more but I'll save those for next time...
